10 Things You Must Do In Lisbon

6:02

/Happy Saturday! This week I came back to the college routine so today, more than ever, I wanted to look back to my trip to Lisbon this summer. Lisbon is a city that will amaze you since the first moment. To enjoy it the most here I talk about 10 things I think you should do on your first visit to Lisbon:

/Get in the Santa Justa elevator: It's a kind of lift that elevate you up to a viewpoint. It has stunning views, as you can see practically all the historical center. You can come up with the metro card but then if you want to go up to the top you will have to pay a little more (I recommend it ;)). In addition, from the lift you can access to the Bairro Alto.

/Go to the Praça Do Comercio: A place that for me has a special charm, you can see trams circulating and the square is connecting with the Tagus River. You can enjoy views of the beautiful river and if you look a little further you will see the bridge April 25 (a replica of the bridge of San Francisco) and the Cristo Rei (a replica of the Brazil one). A view that is priceless!

/Take a tour of the best oriels: Lisbon is a city made up of hills, so it has many slopes, but the good thing is that you can find many viewpoints out there, from which you can contemplate the whole city. My favorite, with no doubt, is the one of the Castle of St. George. You have to pay the entrance to the castle, but totally worth it because the views are spectacular! Others I recommend are the miradouro da Graça, San Pedro de Alcantara (which you can accessed from the elevator Gloria), the Santa Lucia, and the Portas do Sol.

/Get lost in the Alfama: The Alfama neighborhood is one of the most unique neighborhoods I have ever visited. With a lot of slopes, narrow streets and small shops and bars with their own charm. I recommend spending an afternoon to explore with calm this part of the city. I think it's a unique experience!

/Go to Belem: Belem is about half an hour from Lisbon and you can go by bus or train. I recommend you to see Belem Tower (obviously) and the monument of the discoverers, which has a viewpoint totally worth spending some money.

/Try Belem Cakes: Typical Lisbon cream cakes... really good! They sell them in any cafe or patisserie in the city, but the real ones are those that are sold in the shop in Belem (no loss, when you see a huge queue, there it is). If you have the opportunity don’t hesitate to buy some because they are a hundred times better than those of other places (their recipe is secret). And don’t be scared by the queue, often it moves quickly so wait patiently because it will be worth it!

/Eat a dish of grilled sardines: A typical Portuguese dish, I don’t have much more to add here... just try it!

/Take a trip to Sintra: Definitely my favorite part of the trip. Sintra is wonderful and to me is a must if you go to Lisbon. I will write a separate post because I have so much to tell, but in brief, Sintra is so lovely;).

/Enjoy the sunset: I have a problem, I'm obsessed with sunsets, but I don’t have complains. So certainly I had to enjoy a sunset in Lisbon and as expected it didn’t disappoint me. The best option is to watch it from some of the oriels I mentioned before and enjoy the show!

/Take so many pictures: Lisbon is a city where every step you made you'll want to take out the camera to take pictures. Streets full of tiles, colored houses, graffiti, trams ... everything will look photogenic to you!

¡Espero que os haya gustado este post! ¿Habéis estado en Lisboa? ¿Qué sitios recomendáis? Cualquier duda dejádmela en los comentarios ;). Sed muy felices y muchos besis./
